We start with exceptional insulation (ask about our Nu-Wool* money-saving energy guarantee), caulk all of the framing voids and joints then wrap your whole home with Green Guard® house wrap.  Then we finish with ENERGY STAR products like our Carrier® 92.1% efficient furnace with high efficiency 13 SEER air conditioner with environmentally friendly Puron® refrigerant (in our Lexington market, our homes include a Carrier electric furnace with 13 SEER heat pump with Puron).  We also offer ENERGY STAR appliances from Whirlpool®, Maytag® and KitchenAid®.  Plus, every home we sell comes equipped with warm white energy-saving CFL lightbulbs.

The HERS Index is a scoring system established by the Residential Energy Services Network (www.RESNET.us) in which a home built to the specifications of a referenced home (based on the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code) scores a HERS Index of 100, while a home using no net energy scores a HERS index of 0.  The lower a home’s HERS Index, the more energy efficient and the lower the energy cost to operate. 

Each 1-point decrease in the HERS Index corresponds to a 1% reduction in projected energy consumption.  Ohio residential energy code is approximately equivalent to the HERS reference home. 

Today’s Dominion home is 35% more efficient than code on average.
